I hear ya! It's my Birthday though at the end of Feb month but my early purchases in 2018 were with that in mind.
I hope, as a present(s) to get a bottle of Talisker 18.
After that, unless I see a new batch of Springbank 12 CS come out or a damn good offer for another quality malt, I'm out (for a bit).

@OdysseusUnbound, what's "the GTA"?
(Unless you're talking about Grand Theft Auto, Google failed me.)

And dang, Laphroaig Cairdeas and Springbank 12 are rare by you? That sucks. The Cairdeas bottles are reliably good & interesting. And Springbank 12...? Yeah, dang.
For myself, my February bottle transactions should total -1. I'm buying nothing and selling a bottle of Lagavulin 16 from my personal stash to my club.

@MadSingleMalt Greater Toronto Area a.k.a. The T-dot, a.k.a. The Six, a.k.a. The Center of the Known Universe.
There’s a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan waiting for me there.

@OdysseusUnbound , anywhere there is a bottle of Corryvreckan waiting for you is a good place to be.

@MadSingleMalt He's refering to the Greater Toronto Area. Even as a French Canadian, it tooks me a few times to figure out that one.

I'm feeling quite smug that I guessed GTA correctly
Grand Theft Auto would have been my next guess

In 2016 I bought 7 bottles in January. In 2017 I acquired 6 (3 would ultimately go to others).
In 2018 my January total of purchases is 0. So it looks like I tamed that beast.
I still need to work on my Decembers. In 2016 I bought for myself 11 bottles, and in 2017 I ended up with 7. Calgary does this to me.
I will join @OdysseusUnbound in Frugal February. The only bottles I will purchase will be:
Any BTAC leftovers (CS only) that miraculously come my way.
A can't turn down deal here on something either here or elsewhere that I would like (Corryvreckin for $100 in Calgary, for example).
Something reasonably priced to give as a gift that I don't already have "to spare" in my own collection.
I anticipate my next month's purchases will be zero again. In contrast, I acquired 5 in 2016 and 1 last year.
Sometimes setting long term goals can be daunting. Looking at it month to month might just be the way to go.
This could be fun.

@Nozinan Could we continue into Malt-less March? Abstaining April? Miserly May?
6 years ago 2Who liked this?
@OdysseusUnbound Well, I guess I could go maltless in March, though does that include drinking? And so bourbon and Canadian non-malted spirits are still ok? And does that also apply to Abstaining in April?
I guess if there were no drinking, there would be no need to purchase...

With the new shipment of Springbank/Longrow/Kilkerran releases arriving within the next week or so, it's gonna be Flat-broke February for me. Luckily I behaved in January.
That Resolution thread already appears to be a mote of dust in the rearview mirror.

Woah, woah. Let’s not get carried away.

@OdysseusUnbound, Just-effin'-quit June. Juice-off July. Abstention August. Sit out September..
6 years ago 1Who liked this?
@paddockjudge Abstention is too close to abstinance. Abysmal August might be better.

@paddockjudge if you're quitting, can I get dibs on your AP 30, 25, Laphroaig 18, Legacy stash.....
6 years ago 2Who liked this?
@Nozinan If there’s Laphroaig involved, there may be a mooching war coming over @paddockjudge stash. “There can be only one”
6 years ago 1Who liked this?
@MadSingleMalt I spoke to the distributor and, regarding specifics, he isn't sure exactly what they all are but there is the 2nd release of Kilkerran 8yr CS, Springbank 14 Bourbon Cask, a TBD Longrow, and TBD Springbank.

I haven’t even looked at the LCBO listings in awhile. This Frugal February isn’t as hard as I thought it would be. I have some car maintenance to pay for, so there’s not really any extra money going into savings...

There will be the second Buffalo Trace round...

I struck out in the BTAC/Sazerac/Pappy lottery, but as @Nozinan pointed out elsewhere, I’ve actually saved money thanks to the LCBO. I feel like my whisky spending has been a bit excessive in the last 3 months so I’ll be declaring next month “Frugal February”. I won’t purchase any new bottles of whisky of any type... Unless
