Gordon & Macphail already bottled quite a few whiskies under their Secret Stills label, although it is not so much a secret what is inside the bottled. This Highland Secret Stills 6.2 is a single cask Glen Garioch, bottled at the age of 14 years at drinking strength. The colour reveals the first fill sherry cask.

I get classic sherry notes on the nose, such as raisins and cinnamon and cloves. Loads of nuts, both almonds and hazelnuts. After a few moments, it opens up to reveal strawberries and chocolate. The sherry is very prominent indeed.

The attack is creamy, honeysweet and softly spiced. Again loads of sherry. Slightly drying, thanks to the wood. Good body.

The finish is medium in length, again on sherry and spices.

I would not call this complex, but it is more than middle of the road. And while the sherry dominates, it is very pleasant. Around 50 EUR.
