Another dram from my year of birth!
Description: matured for 20 years in a ex-bourbon cask #5878, bottled at 56% ABV.
Nose: a classic honeyed nose with elements of heather, sharp alcoholic, with muffled underlying notes of white grape juice, vanilla and a touch of peat smoke,
Mouth: smooth bodied, warm on the palate. main influence from bold oak and wood varnish, and sweet honey liquorice.
Finish: medium long finish with vague notes of orange peel hidden underneath a strong layer of avocado and ginger spice
Verdict: Good but forgettable. This whisky brings nothing new to the table, smooth like a contemporary Dalmore, but just as dull on its overall delivery. Drink this one neat, a dash of water just pulls the rug right out from under the whole set-up.
