I got me this sample at a festival in Belgium and was flabbergasted with the color of the whisky. From a distance it looks a bit dirty and green water from a swamp. WFT? This, I gotta try, if only to appease my curiosity.

Very good nose. Herbal with loads of peat and heather, but also very sweet as is from chocolate. On second whiff, I get caramel, butterscotch, raisins, vanilla and ginger. Quite spicy, actually. And a wonderful trace of smoke and a hint of citrus.

On the palate, it turns a lot sweeter with sultanas and oranges. Sweet corn (where did that come from?). The peat is much more outspoken. Evolves towards slightly bitter. Seville oranges and loads of oak. And finally a salty lining. I quite like this.

The finish is very long, but also very bitter and astringent.

The nose is the best part of this whisky, the finish a bit of a let down. Around 100 EUR.
