Glen Grant is still one of the bestselling single malts in Italy, but is also quite popular in our neck of the woods. Independent bottlings are plentiful. This single cask was released by House of MacDuff in their ‘The Golden Cask’ series, at cask strength. I’ll keep water handy…

The nose is sweet and sour on apples and lime juice, a bit of vanilla and a single dried apricot. Fresh and lively, but with little depth.

It is very piquant on chili pepper and ginger and develops some woodsmoke. The fruit is the same as on the nose: sweet and sour apples, some lime, but no trace of the apricot. The tannins are quite loud in my opinion.

The finish is medium long on more of the same.

Fairy enjoyable whisky, but not very complex and in all honesty quite boring. Water was redundant.
