Another one of those beautiful decanters from the Cask Strength Collection from Signatory, filled this time with a Glen Grant from 1995 that matured no less than 24 years on a bourbon barrel. It was selected and bottled for the Belgian importer The Nectar.

Wow! This is a veritable bomb on the nose with lots of banana, honey, caramel and vanilla custard. Not complex, but beautiful in it’s simplicity. Delicious.

Nicely creamy on the palate, full and rich in taste. Vanilla, some white pepper and lots of honey precede notes of banana and apricots. Becomes quite powerful, in fact. It even turns a bit old school and offers a lot more depth than the nose announced. Very good, indeed.

And then there is also the long, warm, satisfying finish that secretly makes me long for a second glass.

Excellent cask selection. Thanks Benny & Maarten!
