Nose: Malty and lightly vanilla. Sweet grass, and a drop of sunflower oil. There's some fruti in there, but it's faint at first, and more tropical than red/purple. It bears the characteristics of a light, summer dram. With a few more minutes of air (patience is very much rewarded), you get wild strawberries, pineapple, sweet lemon, melon, and that sort of thing. More fruits!
Palate: Light and easy. It's oak forward, but not overbearing. Loose honey, vanilla (subtle). A little waxy and oily, with a nice blend of fruit. Actually reminds me of a light Clynelish crossed with some lightly fruity Lowland. Sometimes a slightly metallic note emerges.
Finish; More of the same, with maybe a touch of coffee and sour fruit in the very back of the throat. I wasn't sure what to expect, and it's unlike the other Glen Grants that I've had. I like it, and it's an easy sipper, it just lacks oomph and something to take it to the next level, along with the odd note every now and again. B
