My first Glen Ord and my first bottle from Cadenhead's 'authentic collection' single cask bottlings. Although not my first Cadenhead's I've had a few of their Small batches bottles and enjoyed them.

This can be drunk neat but was best for my palate with a teaspoon of water to a 50ml pour.

Nose

Grapefruit, pancakes, kiwi fruit

Palate

Some heat in the arrival (even with water) initially sweet limes. Then lots of straw, meringue, cornflakes, lemon cheescake and a hint of smoke on the development. Followed by a seperate distinct tobacco note.

Finish

Medium length with more tobacco and dry oak.

Overall

An enjoyable if somewhat unspectacular summer highland whisky. Decent quality as can be expected from a Cadenhead bottling. Not a distillery I would go out of my way to seek out in future. But another one off the list nonetheless.

Nice review @Wierdo. I'm a Cadenhead fan and this one sounds like it's up to their usual standard. They seem to be very good cask selectors.

@BlueNote I don't think I've had a bad Cadenhead bottle yet. I have an 18 year old Benrinnes from them in my stash I'm looking forward to opening at some point!
