I was at my local LQ, when I saw this Glen torran 12, and i was intrigued. Its very affordable for its age. This whisky first opened lacked nose and it was almost tasteless. The only thing i picked up was a tad of caramel and the rest, just alcohol. Half way down the bottle its true colors bloomed. But not shocking colors, more like pastels. Its a delicate one, with tastes of vanilla, caramel, oak, honey, barley, grains, little spice, all at a subtle level. However, what is really noticeable, those flavors are lifted by a freshness that is quite unique.Very close to a blended whisky in terms of character. Very, very easy to drink. Thin bodied, medium finish. Not bad for the price. Will I purchase it again, probably not.
Found some references that it might actually be a Tomatin
