Glencairn "Canadian" whisky glasses...

I've used them - for bourbon, Scotch, and Canadian whisky. Far better than tumblers or shot glasses, and about on par with brandy snifters. They have the heft of a tumbler, but the tulip shape helps concentrate the nose a little. Probably inferior to regular Glencairns and some of the other glasses out there, but the LCBO here in Ontario had them on sale for $4.95 CAD a glass, or a pack of six for $19.95 CAD, so it was a steal compared to what an actual Glencairn costs at some places.

@YakLord I went ahead, and purchased 6 for $36 at Amazon.com.

They look like a nice "manly" sipping glass, and yet capable of capturing the nose.

I have one and it makes a dram of any whisk(e)y easier to enjoy its like the glass was not only designed to bring out the qualities (good or bad) of a dram but subconsciously makes it a slower and more savoring experience (that's just me though)

@FMichael I've seen this glass sold over here in the UK with and with out markings. I use the original Glencairn for all my tastings. This one is on my list to get. Will probably us it for non tasting evening drams where I just want to enjoy a dram. But I'd say worth the buy.

@MikeDram - the ones I have all have a little maple leaf etched on the bottom. What is interesting is that a friend of mine has one that is obviously from a very early production run: the etched leaf is larger and a slightly different pattern, the glass/crystal is heavier and thicker, and the bottom is not quite level. There is a very noticeable difference when you put it next to one from a more recent production run. As it is the only "official" whisky glass we have (between my friend and I, we have probably 10 of them), it is the glass we use for tasting sessions just to ensure consistency.

@FMichael & @GotOak91 - yes it does have a very 'manly' feel to it, and forces you to slow down and savour the experience.

Well the glasses arrived yesterday, and I must say that I'm happy that I made this purchase.

All 6 arrived in perfect condition, and interesting enough - no Canadian flag etched on the bottom, and to my surprise they're German made.

1st sip was one of my favorites; The Balvenie 15 yr Single Barrel - was lovely!
