GlenDronach 21 year old Parliament is aged in a mix of Oloroso and sweet Pedro Ximenez dessert sherry casks.

This was also part of our Speyside blind tasting and it won. It wasn't my number one choice but over 80 points for a sherry whisky is always a big score from me.

I couldn't come up with any movie reference like a always do so let's just call GlenDronach 21 yrs Parliament the Smooth Operator. Well, it's a movie too but I won't get into that...

Nose: Sweet and wee peaty/smoky. Like nosing some plum juice essence or candy. Some sherry in there as well. Two drops of water brings up the oak.

Taste: Sweetness continues, it even felt like caramel among the sherry notes. Soft and tangy. Peachy. Again, water brings up the oak.

Finish: Quite long, oaky dry, peppery, dark and fruity. Hints of sulphur.

Balance: Thick and syrupy juice in a smooth package, nice one for sherry lovers. In my opinion, not a sherry monster but nicely sherried

Not a fan of sherry-influenced whisky? What style/s do you find yourself giving 90+ points to?

Smoky ones are usually 'my cup of tea'. Actually, I do prefer sherry when it's combined with big smoke. After 100 whiskys, Lagavulin 16 yrs still is my alltime favorite. Kilchoman Loch Gorm was also good and BenRiach makes nice sherry-smoke combos.

Fair enough! I'm actually partial to peat smoke and sherry / red wine as a combo myself. Yet to try BenRiach or a sherried Kilchoman so I'll keep a look out!
