The Signet, good to see a whisky that is not 'finnished' by Glenmo. This is a fairly expensive (about $250 AUD retail) no age statement malt ranging from 8-10 all the way up to 30-35 year old whisky featuring chocolate malt. Most importantly, its bloody good stuff
Nose: little smoky, slightly overdone toast, chocolate, dates, ginger, dark caramel, coffee. With water sweeter, more dried fruits and sweeter caramel
Pallet: starts savoury and goes dry, then chocolate, malt, coco, bittersweet, espresso coffee. With water vanilla note really comes through, beautifully rich with dried figs
Finnish: Smoke and dryness returns, dates again. With water more smoke and a little spicier fantastic.
Mark – Neat 9.2 , with water 9.2
one of my absolute favourites, beautifully rich, great depth of flavour. Its a must have.
