The vast majority of Glentauchers, together with Miltonduff and Glenburgie, go into the well-known blend Ballantine's. Official bottlings can be counted on one hand, but the independent bottlers can relatively easily get their hands on single casks. In 2018, Ian Macleod Distillers launched this 14-year-old sherry cask in their well-known Dun Bheagan series. Nice color! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I know.

Dark sweet and slightly bitter and sour on the nose with notes of oak, candied citrus fruits and dried fruit. Something metallic, as if I'm pouring it out of a can. A bit old school. Sweet spring roll sauce and tobacco leaves. I really like this.

The body is rather light, but not watery. Sweet on caramel, candy sugar and citrus fruit. Hard candy. Sweet and sour, again. Grapefruit juice versus melted butter. Not exactly complex, but nevertheless tasty and satisfying. Midpalate the obligatory dark sweet notes appear as raisins and a fresh fig.

The finish is not really long, but not short either. Nice and sweet and gently drying.

I can imagine that this one could give a lot of flavors to Ballantine's, but I'm glad that it was bottled as a single cask, because this is quite tasty. Thank you for the sample, Dieter!
