Dark chocolate (at least 70% Cacao) with a really smoky Islay is a favorite. As for food pairings, our local Costco sells an appetizer that consists of goat cheese in a puff pastry. Heat them up in the oven and it goes great with Glen Elgin. Another favorite is Talisker 10 with salmon cooked on a cedar plank on the grill. A smoky match made in heaven.

@bwmccoy, You're making me hungry and making me reminisce about my Seattle/Bainbridge Island days with the cedar plank salmon...yumm!
Great pairings!

I love to graze whilst I sip whisky. Conservative options include: mixed dried nuts, oatcakes, grapes
Slightly more adventurous but not for everyone: strong tangy cheese (especially good Parmesan or a salty blue cheese like Roquefort), chorizo / other cured meats or smoked salmon.

@whiskyshiba If you are ever up in the Seattle / Bainbridge Island area, let me know, we could meet up for some good food and good whisky!

@bwmccoy, Thanks! Sounds like a plan to me. My wife and I haven't been back since our move. We miss the coffee, crumpets in the morning at Pike's, Ivar's clam chowder on the Wenatchee Ferry to Bainbridge, and the seafood. Mix in some great whisky...maybe we ought to move back...lol

5 year aged Gouda, nice and nutty, salty and crunchy due to the calcium lactate crystals that form during aging, St. Andre, a triple cream cheese, grapes, salt-boiled Edamame, and best of all my famous Smoked Trout Spread on Triscuits. Sweetie, pour me another dram.

What do you nibble on while sipping your favorite dram, if anything? I love dark chocolate and bourbon for example.
