A bonded pot still that needs little introduction, I'm sure.

Nose: Barley, green apples and pears, vanilla, the merest hint of sherry/red fruits and that unmistakable coppery note. A touch 'fresh' neat so this review is with 2-3 drops of water.

Taste: The barley is right at the front along with the copper/metallic note and the apples. It's light and refreshing.

Finish: Short to medium with some soft pleasant tannins. Quite drying and a little sour; makes you want another sip.

Overall, a pretty simple whiskey but one that is certainly moreish, which is how I want an Irish whiskey to be. Would make a good intro to pot still. A good session dram, as they say.

How long has the bottle been open? Did this bottle get time to open up?

I probably like Green Spot a little better than you do, or than you do at this point.

@Victor - been open just over two weeks now with about a quarter gone. I imagine it will get better but first impressions are that it's a bit 'fresh, young or nippy' - whichever works ;)

In time that may subside a little but the general profile is decent. I had Jameson Black Barrel last year and that was the same at the start but became much more 'juicy' as it went down.

It is definitely quaff-able though!

Having a sip of this now it's been open over a month and it has improved slightly. It's a bit more 'together', if you know what I mean? Slightly creamier on the nose and palette but it's still a young tasting whisky - though it does what it does well. Maybe up a point.
