@Nozinan That was a typo, it should have said years.
I started drinking whiskey in 1987, Old Charter 10y. I have watched my consumption the whole time, I didn't drink much in the beginning. I think 12 drinks a week is a little high for myself. I plan on cutting back a 3rd to 8 drinks a week. I'm getting older and the effect on my body are more evident. I have exercised my whole life and it has helped tremendously. But the older I get the less I exercise, the less I watch my diet. I will now drink a little less and just one cup of coffee in the morning. Drink responsibly.

@Benancio good health to you, too, sir. Since writing the post I've managed to keep a very good balance between drinking whisky and keeping fit. I find that I occasionally feel that I'm maybe not drinking enough whisky. Which probably means I'm doing something right. Rather that than the other way around.
I've managed to keep my tastings strictly over the weekend with nothing in between. So it's five days of good eating, exercise and no booze followed by a couple of days of moderately cheat eating and whisky indulgence. Indulgence to the point of satisfaction and never drunk.
Having said that, tonight is the weekend, so expect a couple more reviews in the coming days.
Cheers
