ose: Sweet notes, evident peat, more sherried than the 12 year old, spices.

Palate: Peat, then a sweet n’ sour mix, which is quite interesting. Vanilla, vs some woody sourness. Interesting combination.

Finish: A little ‘bitter sweet’ symphony going on.

I wonder why they do the different nomenclature for Duty Free. Is this no different than regular 12 year old since bottled in 1998 and sold in 2010? I like the reference to the Verve song.

@jeffc : this is very different than the 12 year old. a different vatting. this is why. IMHO those DF only releases are nice, but not excellent. better go for the Hjarta or the 18 / saint magnus...

I'm very fond of this Highland Park offering. It has a nice well round, full bodied taste I think. Perhaps it's the slight smokiness that completes it for me.

I opened a bottle today. It's rather gentle for a HP and the peat is subdued by the sherry. Nice, but not what I expected.
