Ideas for selling?

Hi,

I found out this week that I may be relocating to another country this year, one that frowns on the importation of what we love in here unless I pony up a big tariff. Has anyone had any experience with using an auction house to sell some bottles, or are there other alternatives worth looking into? I'd hate to have anything nice confiscated at the border if I try to sneak it through.

I'll take those Buffalo Trace Antique Collection bottles off your hands.

If you were north of the border or in the PNW I would make you an offer on a few bottle. Ah well...NY has Bonhams, but I've never used them.

Bobnoxy that's a very nice whisky collection :D I'd be more then happy to purchase a few of those bottles off you if you're interested as has already been stated in this thread :D Especially if you don't mind shipping to Australia :D

This probably isn't exactly the 'help' you were looking for.

Have you thought about climate controlled storage units (if the move is temporary)? It wouldn't be cheap, but it is an option other than getting rid of bottles.

@MCM Hahaha I think you're probably right, but it doesn't sound like he'll lack for buyers :D

@bobnoxy First off, thanks to all of you for the feedback. Maybe when that time comes, offering up my bottles in here would be a better way to go vs. using an auction.

As for the BTAC's, I finally got the last of the set, the Weller, a couple of weeks back after looking all over for close to two years. They never seem to hit the shelves at my local stores. I think I need more time to look at them!

On the Brora's, those might be the hardest to part with as the 25's in particular are becoming a part of whisky history. I have three of the '07 30's and will have to open one of them for myself just to see what all the rave reviews are about. I'll never get that chance again.

I do have the option of storing them with friends who don't drink the stuff, but at some point they may need to go. When that sad day comes, I'll post a notice in here. Maybe this is where their rightful owners gather.

Thanks again!
