In honor of the Tastival – the festival since 2014 with which Isle of Jura seeks connection with the famous Feis Ile on Islay – they release a special bottling. For 2016 that is an 11 year old single malt with a triple sherry cask finish, being Fino, Amoroso and Apostoles.

The nose is somewhat naughty. I cannot describe it better. I get oranges and pears, leather, butterscotch, nettles, caramel and mint, but also asparagus, raisins and after a few moments some mokatine.

The arrival is very nice. Mouth coating, round, rich. Oranges, zest included, sweet and sour on grapefruit, but also baked apples and butterscotch. Honey and raisins, some kiwi and pineapple. Tobacco. A small salty edge. Quite drying.

The finish is medium long, sweet, sour and salty with grilled pineapple at the death.

Complex and intruiging and one of the better Jura I have tried so far. I found it much better than the Tastival 2014 (I have not (yet) had the pleasure of trying the 2015), but the price tag of 125 EUR is too high to my taste.
