Ladyburn 38 Year Old 1973 Blackadder Raw Cask

My second Ladyburn is even more rare than the first. This single cask was filled on 13th July 1973 and bottled in February 2012 by Blackadder. Robin Tucek and his team launched this Ladyburn under their Raw Cask label.

The nose is quite expressie on all kinds of fruit, from apple to litchi to even strawberry. It is a bit bubblegummy, on the verge of chemical. Soft and clean, despite the (redundant and in my opinion rather silly) cask sediment. Quite fresh on mint. This is pleasant.

It is very fresh and lively on the palate, but still somewhat lightweigth. All kinds of citrus emerge (grapefruit, lime), upholstered with vanilla and cinnamon. Reminds me somewhat of my favourite distillery. If tasted blind, I might very well confuse this with the Auchentoshan Valinch 2012. Not as creamy, but fruitier. Midpalate, I get some strawberries.

The wonderfully long finish offers bubblegum again, but it is not disturbing.

Interesting and very good Ladyburn. Unfortunately, the bottle will set you back around 800 EUR at least. Ouch!!
