This is a 'craft' version of the classic Laphroaig 10. No colour, or chill filtering or watering down. Here are my thoughts

  • Nose: opens up with lemon curd and honey cured bacon, then some classic Laphroaig phenolics and peat with seaweed and bonfires. With water bigger, more phenolic and peaty, much less sweetness here, big road tar note comes out.

  • Pallet: honeyed arrival with barley sugar and liquorice. Then usual Laphroaig-ness comes again, salty iodine seaweed. With water no real change here.

  • Finish: smoke, ash, peat and salinity, all the sweet stuff just fades out. With water no change.

  • Mark neat – 9.0, with water 8.8

I don't actually think its really any better, or worse! than the standard bottling but it is different and i like that.
