This Littlemill 1984 from Cooper’s Choice is a single cask that was bottled for the Belgian whisky shop La Boutique du Chemin Brussels. It was presented at a Closed Distilleries tasting in my neck of the woods in October 2019. I scored a sample.

Oh, my! Very nice, full, powerful, round and tropical nose on lemon, pineapple, pomelo, apricots, peach and a truckload of grapefruit. Then a fresh bouquet of wild flowers and a nice note of wood (without becoming oaky). Very fruity, very summery and simply very good.

The body could have been a bit more, but on the palate, this is a fruit bomb. Again lots of tropical fruit like the nose promised, joined by a good bite of white pepper and wood spices. Some rose water and even a little salty note, although that disappears quickly. Delicious.

The finish is medium long in which the pepper slowly fades and leaves only pomelo and grapefruit.

Grand Littlemill that is still very much alive, even after 31 years in the cask!

I’ve had several Coopers Choice bottlings and they have all been very good and good value. Nice review, Mark. Thanks.
