A few weeks ago, this Longmorn arrived in Malts of Scotland’s spring release (as I call it). It is 21 years old. Exactly two years ago, MoS had already bottled a 19 Year Old, also from a bourbon hogshead. I cannot put them H2H, though, for that former release has long been sent to the whisky Walhalla.
The nose starts on loads of caramel and green bananas. Werher’s Originals, a little bit of lime, apple and hints of mandarin. Greengages. After a few moments, it shows fresh wood shavings and sweet ginger. Gingerbread?
It is a bit oily on the palate, but pretty spicy. Think white pepper, nutmeg and ginger. Staranise as well. Kick to the teeth. Grassy and sweet at the same time. Slightly tropical on citrus and banana, but quite a bit of liquorice as well. Becomes more gentle along the way.
The finish is rather short with nice touches of wood.
De finish is eerder kort met aangenaam hout.
Nice Longmorn, but not as complex as the previous one. 95 EUR.
