Milk & Honey launched the Elements Trilogy in 2020. The first one I’ll try is the Sherry which – as the name suggests – matured on oloroso and PX casks, while a part of bourbon matured malt was also added. The preparation of the casks was done under the watchful eye of a Rabbi to make sure they are kosher. M&H uses the world’s first kosher casks for their whisky.
While the basic whisky (Classic) is recognizable, this one is upholstered with red fruit, sultanas and figs as well as some blood oranges. Walnuts with a hint of wine vinegar. Unfortunately there is also an off-note in the nose that – luckily just for a moment – reminds me of sewage. No idea where that came from.
Good body. The influence of the sherry is rather limited, I must say. I taste mostly the Classic with just a bit of ‘sherry sauce’ if you know what I mean. Lots of spices like nutmeg, ginger and cloves. Midpalate it becomes sweeter and I suddenly also get some cherries. That makes up for a lot.
The finish is very pleasant, medium long and sweet & sour.
This one improved. Dubious nose, okay palate and good finish. Around 60 EUR. Thanks to Buds & Barrels for the sample.
