Minhas Distillery Punjabi Club Rye Whisky

My third and last review of Minhas products was the one that started it all off. I saw a full size bottle of this as we were browsing the first store we came to, and my first thought was "oh, a new Indian whisky". And at 50%. @Nosebleed said he had seen minis so I looked around until I saw it on a 4 for $10 display. I now wonder if all of the dozen different spirits on the display were somehow associated with this company.

This one is a rye, and seems to have been distilled in Wisconsin. Bottled at a respectable 50%. This is NAS. I have no knowledge of whether this is 100% rye.

Nose 19/25

High pitched fruity notes. My daughter says it smells like grapes. I get some menthol

Taste 20/25

Whoa! I get hit with strong fruit. Mostly pineapple snd over-ripe banana. Very sweet and gets even sweeter with water.

Finish 20/25

Licorice. Short.

Balance 20/25

Nose does not prepare me for the taste. A little too sweet and cloying.

Total Score: 79/100

This tastes more to me like a liqueur than a whisky. It's nice, in very small quantities, but I don't consider it to be on the same level as something like Lot 40. Maybe it would enhance a cocktail.
