Nose: Despite the great ABV, a quite livly sherry influence, nice ripe fruits, with a fair bit of oakyness. It isn't quite as hot as one might believe. Gets slightly smoky after some time. With water: Much, mucher nicer wood/smoke balance. Smoke varies from peat to plain coal smoke, very nice and complex.
Taste: Too compact and with a very fast delivery, a massive sherry explosion. With water: Opens up, much smoother, nicer delivery. Oaky with a very nice combination of spices, peat and maritime traits.
Finish: Very long, smooth with lots of smoke.

I never cease to be amazed by Japanese whiskies, this sounds quite similar to an SMWS bottling I have.
