Next up on the day of whiskey tasting: Old Fitzgerald 1897 Bottled in Bond.

Nose: Rum! You would seriously think you were smelling a barrel aged rum. Strong notes of barrel spice, raisins, plums, molasses, and crystal sugar.

Palate: Not to beat a dead horse, but I would have guessed this was finished in a rum barrel. Plum, spices, gingerbread, chocolate, then it changes to buttered biscuits, and fresh oak. Complex, rich and very enjoyable.

Finish: Sweet, rich, chocolate and oak spice.

Overall: This hits a sweet spot (literally) for me. Rich and complex, and well balanced with spicy oak balancing out the sweetness from the raisins and plums. I like this one. I might get one.
