Don't expect a lot from bottles open for 20 years. They may or may not still be drinkable. I was given several bottles of 'dad died' whisky from a friend, some bottles of which had been open for probably 38 years. It was mostly drinkable, but most of it wouldn't have won any awards. If it is still drinkable, that would count as a success, in my book. If it is very good, that would be near-miraculous.
If any of the bottles have not yet been opened they should be at the very least drinkable. There may be some Old Bottle Effect (OBE) though, which is very slow flavour shifts which take place over decades despite the bottle remaining sealed.

My wife and I were recently visiting her mom (dad died about 6 yrs. ago) and she offered me a drink and sent me over to the liquor cabinet. After perusing; I noticed several bottles of whisky, several of which must be about 3/4 or more full and some over twenty years old! Here is a question I think would be interesting to get opinions on: I know this isn't fine bordeaux, but, what is your opinion on the quality of "aged" bottled scotch or other whiskies? As good as when purchased, better, worse?
