@BlueNote and @sonicology, thanks much for the information. I shall be certain to pick up a few 5 cl bottles of Highland Park 30 when I am in Kirkwall! (or maybe elsewhere that they can be found)

@Victor, @sonicology: I just looked at my 4 miniatures of HP30 and the 2 that I bought at HP in Kirkwall were actually 12.25 pounds each. I think I got the other 2 at 15 pounds each in Edinburgh at the Whisky Experience. Not cheap, but worth it, I hope.

@BlueNote, those 5 cl prices are not too surprising considering the price of a 700 ml bottle.

Now we're a lot nearer Christmas, does anyone else what to share their thoughts?

sorry, I cant resist spamming, how about a tasting from the whisky tasting club? We now have 16 different tastings including a couple Islay festival tasting packs still remaining.

My employees just got me a Ardbeg 10, great present and was very unexpected.

Didn't even have to ask. I wound up with a Balvenie peated 17 year old. I've never had it before, in fact the only Balvenie I've had was the 12 year old, so I was pretty stoked. I'm glad I didn't ask for one in particular, if I had I would have wound up with something I've had before.

@IainVH ...thank you Santa (who looks strikingly similar to my beautiful wife!) for getting the Glenfarclas 15 for Christmas. I sampled some with my dad and his wife (none of us having had it before) later that day, and we were blown away. My dad loved the stuff even though he is not really a fan of whisky, and does not usually drink spirits neat. I really noticed a good dose of cloves on the finish, about five minutes after taking a sip...very cool.
It seems as though a lot of people in Ontario had similar thoughts as there are now only eight bottles left for sale in the entire province...I will assume that the LCBO will be replenishing their stock ASAP. :)
