I really enjoy this whisky. At first I was a little underwhelmed. It is very much a traditional blended Canadian whisky and doesn't really bring anything new to the table. Having said that, it is a pleasant drink.
The nose is quite restrained but offers aromas of cream caramel, wet stone (very typical Canadian rye aromas), and something vaguely fruity like blackcurrant jam. On the palate it is rich and warming, starting smooth and creamy before becoming spicy and slightly hot. The port wine finish is not obvious to my palate but seems to add richness to the overall flavour.
The flavour exits quite nicely with additional fruit flavour and clean oak. The overall experience can be described as both rich and subtle. This is a whisky which takes some time to fully appreciate but I would definitely consider buying it again.
