The most recent release of Port Charlotte by the German Malts of Scotland contains a sherry matured and bourbon matured. I happily put them head to head. Strangely enough (well, maybe not) the bourbon matured is the darkest of the two.

Nice and fatty nose like corn on the cob on the BBQ. Loads of caramel and cornflakes. Nice medicinal touch, albeit somewhat discrete. Great hints of coconut, truly. Like!

Sturdy mouthfeel, seasoned well, but again I am somewhat taken by surprise by the sweetness of this PC, which makes it eminently quaffable. Peppers, grapefruit, caramel, white fruit and a great dose of peat. Not really smoky, but smoldering. Under your skin.

In the finish, which is very long, it evolves from sweet to salty.

Surprisingly sweet and drinkable PC. 109 EUR.
