Contrary to the previously tasted PC on Rioja wine cask, this one has matured in a sherry hogshead. At the same time, a PC on bourbon cask was released as well. I am putting this one next to it.

Great farmy nose with an underlying fruit layer of peach and pineapple. Wet hay, walnuts, beeswax. Very, very nice. Some butterscotch too. And oranges that become louder all the time. A medicinal note allows the footlight to the fruit and does not try to grab your attention. Wonderful.

Very creamy on the palate with loads of ashes and burnt wood. The fruit is a bit soury (citrus). Midly drying with a salty edge. Walnuts again. I quite like this.

The peat, with its medicinal character, does have the last word in the long and spicy finish.

A Port Charlotte with a nice tropical side on the nose and loads of character. Very good. 109 EUR.
