Heard a bit of commotion during the night and when I came downstairs this morning I discoverer my Glencairns have had a baby.

It's a girl so I've decided to call her Glenda (awful joke. Sorry!)

@Wierdo ha ha. I've seen a lot of images of these when people are sampling at distilleries. Are they the standard tasting glass? Where did yours actually come from? (and don't tell me the stork dropped it off). What are they called?

The firs time I saw one of these was in 2010, before, I believe, I even owned my first glencairn.

Of all places I was at Forty Creek picking up my numbered Confederation Oak bottles, and wanted to taste it to see if I wanted another bottle for drinking. They poured it in a mini glencairn but would not sell me the glass. IT NEVER TASTED AS GOOD in any other glass.

The next time I was at FC they were using little plastic glasses, and not ideal ones for tasting whisky.

I was finally able to order some from Laphroaig a couple of years ago. Sadly one of them was the only casualty of my move to my new house last year.

That move involved a lot of sorting, packaging, lifting, carrying, and sampling. I know pack mules that carried lighter loads. Every muscle in my body was tested, including my liver. wink

@paddockjudge You loved every minute of it, especially arranging my cabinet in proper order.

Here's where I brought them from. I brought 4. They weren't very expensive and there was a bit of postage and packing to pay. 4 glasses delivered came to £12.

I've seen them a few times. I think distilleries and shops use them so they can pour customers a small sample and it doesn't look lost or like they're being mean!

I wanted some whisky shot glasses. Because at times I just want a small measure of something warming after I've been outside walking the dog or whatever and I wanted something a bit nicer than a normal shot glass.

They are actually a really nice glass, they feel well made, actually seem more substantial than a regular glencairn.

I don't know if they ship internationally? But I imagine the shipping would make it prohibitive to do so.

These are similar but slightly smaller. Available in the US so I would assume in Canada too? They're 90ml compared to the 100ml ones I brought so not a lot in it.

@Nozinan, I can walk away from a gas pump without bumping it up to the next decimal point or whole dollar. I enjoy kaos as much as order, but when it comes to my cabinet, order rules. At the completion of moving day I couldn't let your cabinet shelves randomly populate themselves. Coincidentally, after a move like that, all bottles should undergo a disciplined Quality Assurance Program. It may take several visits to properly complete the task.
