Question About Potential Trade (VW10)/Advice

0 4

Jonathan started a discussion

I'm not sure if the there is already a thread for trading. I have access to a bottle of Old Rip Pappy Van Winkle Handmade 10 yr (129$). Two questions: 1)Would anyone in the Baltimore/DC (etc) area be interested in a trade? 2)Is this bottle worth buying solely for the purpose of trading, and how would I go about doing that (if there's no interest here)? I have give a yay or nay by tomorrow... .

I'd really appreciate some advice! I can otherwise buy some SB 12 CS, and Ledaig 18 and am not a whisk(e)y investor.

Let me put it this way: if you liked (but did not love) a bottle--as is this case with me and VW 10---would you buy it in the hopes doubling your purchase with a trade? (Price is 129$) . I'm getting the impression that the OVWR 10 is not the one that will trade for much. (I'm still remembering the 55 I paid for it a few years ago. I enjoyed it and thought it was fun, but 129$ seems steep, if I am to open it myself. I'm also not so into bourbon these days.)

If I do buy it, where would I find the folks who are willing to trade something worth twice as much retail? I know that this sounds petty, but VW is good stuff and I I'm not sure whether i should yay or nay it.

@Jonathan SB CS and Ledaig 18 sounds much more appealing to me, and you could just go ahead and drink them rather than waiting for your investment to (possibly) go up.
