Ah, a golden auldie from The Ultimate from the Dutch bottler van Wees, distilled in 1991 and already bottled in 1998. Thanks to my buddy Manny I was able to score a sample. Oh, my, look how pale it is!
Spring fresh on lime juice and freshly cut grass. Nice floral notes with a truckload of eucalyptus. Very, very fresh. Underneath lurks a soft hint of Turkish Delight and some gooseberries. Candy floss and breakfast cereals.
Despite the modest ABV the arrival is quite sturdy with a big peppery note, only to soften up immediately. Again it reminds me of spring with vanilla, flowers in the meadow and a note of famer’s butter. Mildly drying effect.
The finish starts fresh with an uppercut of barley sugars and then fades slowly on a peppery note. The mouth is left dry.
It may not be complex, but it certainly is good! Thx, Manny.
