Hi @1494, that's a tough one. It all depends on what your goal is. If you are looking to buy whisky as an investment, you will have a completely different approach then aficionados who collect whisky (like myself) with the intent of finishing off every bottle before crossing over to the Everlasting Barleyfields (or is that the Neverending Warehouse?). Anyway, I collect Auchentoshan because I love the brand, but I know for a fact that it's not a good investment money-wise, only palate-wise (imho).

@markjedi1 "everlasting barleyfields" and "neverending warehouse" are two absolute epic wins! :) turning to the point, maybe buying a few bottles from silent distilleries (port ellen for example) could be a good idea, the price will probably increase in the future...

Fascinating topic. @1494 what is your level of knowledge/experience of whisky thus far?

@lucadanna1985 I know what you mean. I have several of them tucked away (like the Pe1 and Pe3, but also a Port Ellen 7th release). Personally I collect Auchentoshan - which is not the kind of whisky that will rise in value all that much - but I cannot help it. I simply love that dram.

I think collecting is a great process. Whenever I try a bottle that really excites me, I want to buy a couple to put in a time capsule, to turn on my friends and family to something beautiful and rare in the future. How easy it is depends, for me, on willpower and budget. I, personally, am often short on both.
