@SquidgyAsh I'm just never home at the moment sigh.. will be glad when the renovations are all done, they're just dragging on, unfortunately. I will reward myself handsomely I'm sure, as soon as that's all done!

Just some pre dinner sampling of a Clynelish 1997 15yo Adelphi Selection for Daracha (the Norwegian importer of Adelphi bottlings in Norway). Delicious stuff, intense, mixture of tropical fruits and custard. I need to get a bottle of this!

"Sampling" from a couple of new bottles before taking them over to my brother-in-laws for poker night;

Old Pulteney 17. Should finish this one up tonight. Also a dram of an older Benrinnes. It is improving quite a bit from the fusal alcohol bomb it was initially. I decanted a sample, but I plan. On taking my time with the rest of the bottle.

Enjoying a new bottle of Stagg, Jr. Enjoying it very much, in fact. Just posted a review and all I can add to it is that it's getting better and better. I'm a Scotch drinker who enjoys bourbon now and then, but this is much more than a now-and-then bourbon.

Just polished off the bottle of 1990/2012 Karuizawa #679 -- other than a little 2oz bottle decanted for some memory in the unknown future. This was absolutely beautiful when it was opened, and it only became more magical with time. I miss it already.

Nikka 'from the barrel' and enjoying it immensely! It continues to astound.
A Whisky that, initially, I approached with some trepidation is fast becoming an all time favorite (blend). The mouth-feel is, quite simply, sensational and everything else is in harmony. I can't remember a blend that had this much character and flavor: 'Come to think of it, I've had a rather 'blinkered view' of non- Scottish Whiskies and blends in particular - No more!

@Nozinan I know, I noticed that. Plus they are cowards for not saying who they are.

@A'bunadhman, glad to see you enjoying Nikka from the Barrel, it is indeed a great whisky!

Just started my penultimate dram of A'Bunadh batch 44. This has been a good bottle. Glad I have a spare, but we must also look to the future.... Couldn't finish. So it's covered. Hopefully it will still keep it's appeal in 24 hours

Last night, poker and whisky at my brother-in-laws;
Angel's Envy portwood finished bourbon - Not as good as the glass I had a bar a few weeks ago. Hopefully, the corn will decrease a little and the port will come forward more with some time in the bottle.
Johnnie Walker Double Black - I prefer the regular Black to this one.
Ardmore Traditional Cask
Laphroaig 10
Ardbeg (SMWS 33.113) 8 year old (July 2003) “Sweet, peaceful dreams”
Tonight, more Johnnie Walker Double Black and Laphroaig 10

@Nozinan: Yes, it will! If anything, it may appear to be stronger: That how I find it. Don't know why but when I have put a poured dram aside for 24hrs. it seems to show more power, to me anyway - 2 small teaspoons in a 2.5oz. pour (eyeball), a'buunadh.

@A'bunadhman
it sure smelled great this morning.... but for a taste we'll have to wait until tonight...if there's time. The longest I've drawn out a dram is over 3 evenings (can't remember if it was spring bank CS claret, abunadh or bladnoch), but the third night (48h of exposure to air) was not as good as the other two...

A rare Monday night grilling standing next to my admiral/wife and two standard poodles romping around the back yard and some Isle of Skye 12yr old. Not bragging but life is good, and even better with scotch. :)

@PeatyZealot - Stagg, Jr. was just released just last month. No date on the bottle, but it's supposed to be made up of eight and nine year old casks. The local store here in Valparaiso just happened to have a few bottles on the shelf, and I grabbed one. If they still have some this Friday (payday), I'll be back for the rest. See my review (shameless self-plug) for more. ;-)

Returning to the A'Bunadh tonight, 24h after pouring. The last few sips are smooth, rich, full of flavour. Not so much on the nose, but that's expected given it's a small volume in the glass and some of the volatile elements would have dissipated by now.
I don't think it would be as good in another 24 hours, but this is the second time it's stood up to a day of waiting. Great to know for someone who can't always finish but hates to waste.

Having a dram of Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask at the moment. This is a superb whisky. It has definitely become one of my favourites. I may move on to some Bookers bourbon soon... or maybe some Johnny Drum?... decisions, decisions ; )
