The levels in my Ardbegs are getting sooo low. So I poured just a wee bit each of the 10 yo, the Corryvreckan, the Uigeadail, and the Galileo into my Glencairn. (Didn't include the Ardbog or my Chieftain's 12 yo CS, as I still have plenty of those two.)

Wow, insanely good.

Equal parts of each. Try it. Trust me.

Started with some Suntory Royal Blended Whisky, now I'm enjoying a dram of Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask… again! Man this stuff is good...

@WhiskyBee sound like an interesting blend. You said equal parts TEN, Corry, Uigeadail, and Galileo? You know what I am going to ask next . . . what were the batch numbers (specifically for the TEN, Corry and Uige)?

Because some batches have more "Lemon" peel, and others are more peaty, mossy, sea salt, etc.

Currently drinking George T. Stagg 2013 next to Elijah Craig Barrel Proof (2nd Release @ 68.5% ABV). I really like the ECBP, but the Stagg is more enjoyable . . .

@Nock - The 10: L09 096; the Uige: L11 226; the Corry: L11 012.

My 2012 bottle of 10 was finished a couple of weeks ago. A wee bit of my 2009 was worth it for this little experiment.

@Wodha - Having a bit of HP 12 myself at the moment. How right you are. Nothing comes close at this price. Better than many I've had for three times the price, in fact.

Yes, @Wodha, cheap is good, isn't it? You are the whisky anti-snob...and I love it!

As a followup to the HP 12, I'm breaking into my 1/4 bottle supply of Glendronach 15. Haven't had any in at least eight months. Wish I'd saved more of this for when my palate was a little more educated. Don't know, and don't care, if the nose or palate is the better experience. Just moved to the top of my list for immediate replenishment.

The new Lagavulin Distiller's Edition (1997-2013) will be poured this evening. Anyone tried it yet?

Haven't tried Jules, any good?

Was meant to blind test for the first time tonight with some friends but it quickly turned into free-for-all samples. Laga-12, Laga-16, Laph-18, Laph-PX Cask, Bowmore Legend, Glenmorangie 18, Bushmills and a Centenario XO Rum. Lots of fun, but really wanna do more blind tastings - love the challenge.

Tonight is the end of a brutal week, my admiral / wife's father has a 3 month left to live diagnosis. I'm just settling in with some more Dalmore 12yr old. With everything that has happened sometimes just a simple not overly complicated dram is what's called for most. :)

I haven't tried that one @Jules but I did have some of the 1991 DE a while back. I really enjoyed that one! I would love to give other DEs a try...

'Had 8 days in Hobart and among other pursuits tried more than a few Whiskies all of which were very good, some quite special and a mind-blowing Lark Anniversary Carsk that was finished in the original Seppelt 'Para' puncheon 1878 that had had been loaned to Lark for this bottling only, then returned. All Lark Whisky is matured in Quarter Casks.

The Cask is a National Treasure and as such, Heritage listed... and the Whisky - Sublime! I suspect, (but don't know), that a few other port finished Whiskies may have been shuffled through this 135yo. Cask; I know I would have! I would have loved to come away with a bottle but alas at Au.$295.00 for a 500ml., sanity prevailed. I did ask about purchasing a bottle without the beautiful fitted box and trappings, "No!".

Anyway, did their tasting which covered 6 Whiskies - New Make @ still strength 73%(?); I was the only taster to actually like it. It was sweet, clean and delicious but left a few of the older folk gasping. Then through Sherry Wood, Port, Bourbon, Cask Strength (both Sherry and Bourbon). Came away with a Sherry Wood at 46% and a lovely Bourbon Cask at 58% abv. and fond memories of their Anniversary 'Para' which was not part of the tasting proper: 'Love Tassie!

Slainte!

An Cnoc 22 yr 46% abv...I imagine this is what Macallan Cask Strength would taste like with another decade in the barrel.

@ PMessinger - I too wish you & your family as much strength as one can muster to get through your very difficult time... It is a wretched disease and mankind would do well to invest more time & effort in conquering this destroyer of families rather than spending it's resources on far more trivial pursuits...

@Quiver - the Lag'DE '97-2013 is good yes. Very smooth and drinkable, medium peat. The half-year in PX Sherry casks seems to have taken the bite out of it but it does add a rich toffee sweetness that makes it an excellent after dinner choice for peat-lovers. However, for the money (64€ / 86$) I can't truly recommend it as there are more complex & interesting Scotches available for you hard earned cash!

Started with HP12, moved on to Corryvrecken, then finished with Glenfiddich 18. The first two drams were obviously great, but the 'fiddich 18 was actually pleasant. Not top notch, but good. Everything was enjoyable.
