Four Roses Small Batch. I was craving something strong after a long week back after vacation. It's not usually my first choice, but it really hit the spot tonight.

Tonight, 29 year (July 1980) Glenrothes SMWS 30.61 - "A Sensitive, intimate experience". My wife and I first tasted this one 4 years ago tonight at the Whisky Society members room in Edinburgh.
Finishing up tonight with an 18 year (April 1995) Laphroaig SMWS 29.146 - "Bright and uplifting"

Mortlach 15yo Gordon & MacPhail, one of many miniatures that I brought back from my latest trip to Scotland. And I must admit, not at all what I expected, the vanilla overtones are overpowering the rest of the flavours. I'm really starting to develop a disgust with vanilla flavoured whiskies

A glass of Corryvreckan, as I just finished reviewing it in Norwegian (my first review, even!). Translation will probably follow tomorrow. :)

Just picked up 2 Evan Williams 2004 Private barrel's, Barrel number's 8 and 9. Number 9 is crisp yet smooth and tastes oh so good. And for the price($24.00) it can't be beat. I just hope #8 is just as good. And the 2004 single barrel.

been a while - still catching up at work from a two plus week trip to ireland/france (typing of which got some great deals at the CDG Duty Free/Carrefour).
Currently open is the Yamazaki 18, Auchentoshan Virgin Oak and Rock Hill Bourbon
Over the trip, finished bottles (w cousins) of the Caol Isla 12, Scapa 16 (an excellent discovery) and Balvenie 14 in Cuban Rum Casks
Brought back w me - Balvenie 21 Portwood, Laphroaig 18, Glenfiddich 25 Rare Oak, Hibiki 12 (a Ralffy recommendation). Compared to the LCBO, the Balvenie and the Laphroaig were steals
At a friends bbq last weekend, brought the Ben Riach 16 and a number of us agreed that it was a flavorful whiskey that was better than expected. Exchanged my Balblair 02 gift last night for the last bottle at Yonge and Highway 7 location
may all of you had summers that were better than my own exceptional experience...jr

oh yeah - don't think I can purchase from the LCBO anymore. There is a difference between knowing of a markup and knowing the markup. Trips are going to be the prime initiator of future whiskey purchases.

@JayRain
I agree with you. LCBO is ridiculously expensive for good scotch. I even found a Forty Creek special release selling out west for 10 dollars less. I picked up an Ardbeg Corry online in the US for $100 less...that's less than half price!
At least this is an incentive to visit my in-laws in Calgary more often...

Glenfarclas 10. The poor man's Glenfarclas.
So, I asked a wealthy older coworker (who said he was an avid Scotch drinker for many years) what his favorite was. His reply: "JW Black! and if that's not available Glenfiddich."
I think folks here in this thread are a very rare breed.

Macgavin's Highland Single Malt. I was surprised with this one off trial. It is really good for a low cost IB. (:
