@talexander, yes, thank you kindly. There are anniversaries for the both of us...@Dramlette and I met 30 years ago December 8th. December 20 will be our 29th wedding anniversary. We just got back into town today returning from the land of the Mouse, Orlando. No Disney World for us, but the new Four Seasons Resort Orlando (at which Dramlette worked 7 weeks this summer) is spectacular.

We do miss Canada, though, and all of our dramming buddies in your very hospitable land. December has been a great season for hanging out in Toronto.

I just got a special dandm Signatory Jura bottling. Great story in the bottle.... The grain was mistakenly shipped to (and distilled at) Jura. It was intended for Bowmore, and was therefore peated. So this is a Peated Jura. I really like it, and well, I like it better than the Bowmore I've been finishing... Bushmills Irish coffee going on too.

Stuck at HK airport at the moment, so I'm sipping on a small bottle of JW Red to kill time. It's not THAT terrible, but I certainly wouldn't call it good either. I think my next purchase will be some Coke.

Must be different from the stuff they sell here in Canada. That stuff would make me pity the bacteria If it were used as an antiseptic...

*Of course, None of the JW line could be really be used as an antiseptic, as they are 40-43% alcohol, and you need 60%.... So 2 reasons I would prefer A'bunadh...

Maker's Mark 46 @ 47% ABV. This is quite wonderful, ticks all the boxes and then some! What a lucious mouth feel, what a splendid Whiskey all round. I do like this, and it's freshly opened - It had an aroma to die for, even as the cork came out. It's a long time since I've had anything this special and never out of the U.S. (sorry)!

Cheers.

Last night, I poured a glass of Jefferson's Presidential Select 18 yo (batch 16), along with it's cousin, the Old Weller Antique 107. Both have held up quite well with both bottles being open for 2+ years. The OWA is still showing a fresh cherry note quite nicely. Next time I pour both, I will be trying them in reverse order from last night, with the OWA going first. Being wheated bourbons, the higher abv of both bourbons (47% for the JPS, 53.5% for the OWA) is nicely hidden.

The JPS is one that I am focusing on finishing in the near-ish future as it has been open 3+ years.

Booker Noe's Special Barrel Bourbon: 7years & 3months. 62.7% ABV. L81540811 CLA 0800 Batch # C01-A-18. This was a gift loosely speaking. The lass at my small local Bottle Shop had it returned (it was pretty old stock, which was discounted and discontinued); anyway, the chap who brought it back couldn't get the seal of the bottle, the bottom of the wax had crumbled but the wax enclosing the cork was a solid lump of what seemed like glue (?)

The best I could do was to slice the top of the wax off with a very sharp knife and then remove the cork with a Wine puller - It went into a Decanter anyway, so no harm done. It tastes like a locked up A'bunadh (say # 42) at this stage but will improve no doubt, in time and air.

Any help with the bottle info. above would be much appreciated! A better gift than last year's Golf umbrella: I don't play!

Cheers.

Not a whisky, but I think it might interest some of you on none the less. I'm having a bottle of Nøgne Ø's 100% Peated Ale. It is made with purely Scottish peated malt, and in my opinion, could pass as something made on Islay. It actually reminds me of Lagavulin, and that is no small feat.

@A'bunadhman: And there was more...on the base of the Booker's stamped in blue - 42 21 252 07 (2034)* (could be 2074); this bottle will never get lost but I sure am!

Slainte.

it was slightly above freezing and pouring rain as i rode my bicycle home tonight, so i'm warming up with some 73.75% abv abraham bowman bourbon. if i had a never-ending stock of this juice, i just might cycle every day of the year....

@FMichael Yes Chrisbator stay away from tthe Arran 10. It is my daily go to dram and I don't want "supply and demand" driving the price up again! As you can tell I really enjoy this one, 46% ABV,NCF and natural colour plus a taste profile that I enjoy a lot.

I am finally starting to kick a really bad cold. Still have a bad cough but I didn't need to take anything to breath through my nose today, and I think I only took Tylenol once.

Not ready to really nose and taste anything yet. My health advisor suggested Booker's, but it has been so long since I had A'Bunadh I took a 10 cc pour of my lesser batch 36. At ~60% it can cut through the congestion.

Not an ideal experience but it's good to be back...

@fiberfar There is a beer in Quebec Canada called Corps Mort wich means Dead Body. It is brewed on an island among the Îles de la Madeleine in the St-Lawrence gulf and they use a malt smoke in the same smokehouse where they smoke the herrings. They say the beer could have trace of smoked herrings there go the name Corps Mort. It is a barley wine and each time I have it I am dreaming of the whisky they could get out of it. If you see it one day don't hesitate as it is a beer for whisky lovers!

Daviess County Bourbon, 80 proof, Corvette 935 Toys For Boys Decanter, approx early 1960s, a gift from a friend. The cork was leaky, and broke when removal was attempted. The bourbon is still drinkable, but more suited to be a mixer at this stage, 50 years later. I think they still make Daviess County bourbon, though I've never seen it or heard of it before. Probably at the Charles Medley distillery. The car is actually pretty cute, and rolls well across the floor!
