Last night I dipped into my Laphroaig Cairdeas 2016, which I'm still finding not-so-great, and my A'bunadh 54, which seemed way more alcholish than anything else on my shelf (almost all CS).

@Nosebleed is visiting with his family. We won't have much time to dram this week so we decided to forge forward...
I got him to try Crown Royal NHR from my sample from @Paddockjudge. The best part is that I now have a sample bottle i can use...
Then we did a flight of Alberta Premiums. The standard from my long and rarely opened 200 cc bottle, then very limited tastings from my two sample bottles of the 25 and 30, both thanks to @Paddockjudge. The 30 was the clear winner, and tonight I got hints of espresso toffee candies from Trader Joe's on the finish.
Then we finished off with a relaxing dram of Benromach 100/10 - powerful, rich and delicious!

Had some of my Elijah Craig Barrel Proof last night... think I need to pick up a back up of this sooner rather than later...

Tonight we got back from Niagara Falls and I was finally able to introduce @Nosebleed to Old Granddad 114. Inspired by the review by @Talexander. Wonderful stuff!

A drop of Koval Single Barrel Bourbon (barrel #327).
uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161031/…
Sweet, floral and (tropical) fruity with a touch of oaky bitterness. A straightforward bourbon without the depth and weight but more than makes up with an intense flavour profile that lingers very pleasantly. Initial spicy mouthfeel subsides into warmth that glides smooth and oily.
Clean and refreshing, I find that this is to bourbon what AnCnoc is to malt whisky. I can enjoy this without being overwhelmed.

Sipping some Four Roses Single Barrel. Lately this has been my go to bourbon, it's just such a delicious drink. I'm halfway done with my pour and I think tonight might be one of those rare two-drink evenings, and I'm thinking I'll follow-up with a George Dickel Rye. That or a good ole Alberta Premium, I haven't quite made up my mind.

SMWS 121.76 "Close shave from a tipsy Barber" - single bourbon cask Arran 12 YO. This bottle was a gift from my in-laws last December and it's a privilege to share it with my brother in law tonight.
Whisky poprocks once more...

I had a quick little special outing on the town with the girlfriend last night, and I had a Springbank 18 at the newish whisky bar. 1 oz for $15—not too shabby for an expensive whisky I'll probably never buy a bottle of. It was very good, and the quality was evident, but I can't say I like it a whole lot better than the 10 or 12 CS.

Johnnie Walker Green Label. Sweet and smooth. Great for a week day relax.

@OlJas I totally agree - I did buy a bottle of the 18 once - while I didn't regret it, I don't think I would again at that price.

I just did an experiment. I tried CRNHR after some Wiser's Legacy and after a pause I did the opposite. The CRNHR hold is ground and was good in both order while Legacy was great as the first dram but tasted harsh and almost vulgar after the unloved CRNHR.

@Robert99 Very interesting - I think both are very good, though the CRNHR is pretty great, despite the backlash...

Russel's Reserve Kentucky Straight Rye Single Barrel. After 2 months of oxidization I have really warmed up to this and consider it on a par with Pikesville 110.

Tonight my uncle wanted peat, and I wanted Sherry. We both poured Bowmore Laimrig 4. Isn't compromise grand?

@talexander, I agree, CRNHR is an excellent rye. @Robert99, I happen to be enjoying Wiser's Legacy at the moment. I cannot begin to compare the two. They are very different from each other, as different as Highland is from Islay.

Tonight, my wife and I had our first date night in months. Went to a local steakhouse. Started off with a Jim Beam single barrel Manhattan, followed by a local pale ale. In looking at the bottles above the bar, noticed a bottle of Octomore. I asked which one it was and was pleased to discover it was a 7.1 (208 ppm). Had to have a dram of it and glad I did. Wow! Iron fist in a velvet glove. So smooth. Loved it so much that after we left the restaurant, immediately went to the liquor store and picked up a bottle of it. Also picked up an Old Grandad 114 as well.
Home now, having an Ardbeg Supernova (SN2015) as a night cap.

@Nozinan - Thanks! We had a great time.
Last night, in order to get through my election ballot, opened up the Old Grand Dad 114. Due to the length of the ballot, had 2 drams of it. It's been a while since my last bottle. I'm not a huge bourbon fan, but I was reminded just how good this stuff is. Need to make this one a mainstay in my whisky cabinet.
Later, as a night cap, Laphroaig 10.

@bwmccoy
They let you drink in the polling station? That is either so 1700s or so modern!

@Nozinan - My state is 100% mail in ballots. You get to vote from the comfort of your home (with access to your whisky cabinet).

Can't stop won't stop drinking everything in my house. No chance Maggie will make it to school on time tomorrow morning. Also, I hate humanity.

@talexander, I had no idea you felt so strongly about the one bottle limit on Macallan Lalilque VI
....ooops, wrong thread.

All this talk of Union 52 and limited Wiser's releases made me hanker for some Last Barrels. I haven't had a pour since around when it first launched, and I must say it's quite a treat. I remember enjoying it well enough, but I think I enjoy it more now. Not sure if it's due to time and air, or if tonight is one of those nights where my palate really appreciates what I'm drinking. Either way, this is very nice right now.

Finally met @Nozinan tonight and am beyond grateful for the samples he provided me with. Currently enjoying half an oz of Caol Ila 17 CS unpeated 55.9% - such a beautiful Scotch. A few drops of water sweetened up the palate. Currently nosing it and savoring each drop. Thanks very much @Nozinan - was a pleasure to meet you and I look forward to returning the favor as well as joining you for a future tasting. Cheers!

Glad to see you enjoying the sample. That CI 17 is quite special.
Thanks again for buying and holding that A'Bunadh 54 for me. We'll have to open it together when I'm 54.

Had some A'bunadh while watching the football (soccer) finishing the night with a glass of bourbon. The only one I own that could shine after a sherry bomb Four Roses 2015 sm Batch, great way to finish any night

@Pete1969 I currently can't drink - likely something viral and transient causing anything with alcohol to burn. So I depend on Connosr to taste vicariously... So what batch was the A'Bunadh?
