I visited Fourty Creek Distillery today and had a tasting of a grain Whisky, their double barrel, the confederation oak and a portwood reserve. Very nice people and although I'm not a big fan of Whisky liquor their maplesyrup infused whisky is much to my liking - basting ribs, pour over ice cream etc...great stuff.

15 year Bowmore (SMWS 3.181) “Spritzy, lively and stimulating”

Closing out the night with a 17 year Coal Ila (SMWS 53.154) “Surfer’s sundown dram”. Each dram tonight is better than the one before. All were very good, if not excellent, but this one is head and shoulders above the others. Absolutely amazing!

Just killed my oxidized bottle of Glenrothes Select Reserve 2006. Some interesting changes as it oxidized. Still quite yummy, with a few stronger flavours, but not as awesome as when I first opened it.

Finally getting to terms with a 2012 George T Stagg. An epic bourbon to say the least.

@cpstecroix, it is pretty amazing that Sazerac Company released a few bottles of 2012 George T. Stagg in Ontario four months before the USA 2012 release. That 2012 Stagg nose is to die for!

some horrible beer for work and Stranahans Colorado Whisky for fun.
BTW Even good beer cant compare to good whisky. Just my opinion.

@Victor I feel pretty lucky! Too bad they limited the release to one bottle per household.

William Larue Weller...followed by a long systematic tasting review of my open bottles...followed by administration of Private Preserve inert gases to retard oxidation. The summer has taken a bit of a toll, unfortunately.

A Longrow CV and now an Old Potrero...a little peat to start and that fresh cereal grain to finish.

Just opened my first bottle of Old Pulteney, the 17. I wanted something "maritimey" to celebrate the release of JAWS on blu ray. Seemed appropriate, and I am really enjoying it.

Cracked open a bottle of Laphroaig 10. My first Laphroaig!) Good stuff. No bells and whistles, straight to the point!) Bold and straightforward, brutal and pleasant!)

Crappy day at work with shoplifters and jerks. Sitting here after an Norwegian sipping on some boring Glenlivet 12 yr old. I think I need something big and smokey to suit my mood...

@Max Laphroaig is a VERY yummy Islay. I'm really looking forward to the Triple Wood bottle of it.

@Max Laphroaig has a shrine in ma hoose. Try Quarter Cask, funnily enough what in drinking right now. Laphroaig was how I got into Islay and I go back to it again and again. The only one I'd give a wide berth is Triple Wood (its not so good).
