Jura Superstition. Just opened. Very good, this is my first Jura ever. The flavor profile is very good. I bought it after finishing the book Richard Paterson gave me at WhiskyFest NY (Goodness Nose).

Sazerac Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky.
Sweet nose. Toffee, ginger, vanilla, nutmeg, and oak on the pallet. Long dry finish dominated by grapefruit pith. Barrels hand picked by Drew Mayville. Very nice, very rare, and very tempting.

Scotch is by far my choice... However, I like the bourbon variety from time to time. I have recently sampled the W.L. Weller 12 year old and have been pleasantly surprised! Very clean tasting bourbon with no harsh burn. Very smooth with a rich carmel and smoke flavor that lingers long. This is a 90 proof bourbon which cautions causes me to brace for a harch alcohol taste...but, none to be had! Very nice bourbon well balanced and crisp.

@Victor We visited Kilchoman on our trip - amazing (and small) farm distillery! Our favourite was the 100% Islay malt, we bought a bottle and kept it with us on our trip, refilling our flask as needed...

@talexander, welcome home! I would love to see the Kilchoman distillery. Dramlette's brother is flying to the Scottish distilleries and golf courses tonight with three of his golfing mates.

I'm celebrating my admiral and mine 2nd wedding anniversary with a dram of Glenfarclas 12yr old while reading Richard Paterson's new book Goodness Nose. Great whisky for a special night even if it's only second anniversary, gosh wives are great. :)

Wild Turkey 101 Rye and a particularly fine batch it is too! I'm the proud owner of 4 and a half bots. It is delicious and fast becoming my 'go to' Whiskey, though, if I go to it too often, there wont be any to go to!

Slainte!

Just opened a bottle that I picked up in San Francisco a couple of months ago. Bunnahabhain 1997 13 year Port Wood Finish (Murray McDavid Bottling). 46% ABV. Tasting notes: orange, ginger, butterscotch, hazelnut, pear, plum. The traditional Bunnahabin character is present, but love the added dimension provided by the Port Wood. Very balanced. Needs a little water to open up, especially the nose, but it takes water well. Very happy with this one.

Ancnoc 16, Springbank 10, & Springbank 15. Loved all three of them:) Springbank 15 has always been my ace, but the 10 is really becoming a fan favorite at such a reasonable price. Anyway, nice relaxing evening after a short run to burn off the daily stressors.

Also opened a bottle of Bruichladdich (Port Charlotte) 9 year (SMWS 127.26) "Student Party Aftermath". Wow! This has one of the biggest finishes that I have ever experienced! I want to thank @Pudge72 and @michaelschout for recommending this one to me. I see why this one was a favorite of yours! Excellent dram!

Nothing recently...seasonal allergies have killed my nose, so I've been on hiatus for the last couple of weeks...I did make a very good whisky matured cheese (using extra-aged cheddar and Talisker 10), following the recipe that I found here: awardrobeofwhisky.com/post/…

Headed into the studio in a few minutes to lay some bass tracks. This studio always has one particular whisky on hand for whomever wants/needs a pull. It's always the same, you walk in, you tune up and magically there's a large tumbler, neat. Being a good rock and roller I take what's given me.

They refer to it as "Caddy Shack" you and I know it as Cutty Sark.

Christmas in a glass. Sazaerac Royal Canadian Small Batch (B12 307) - this is some seriously good sh*t. Drew Mayville has outdone himself. This rye-forward butter-bomb is a great big slice of christmas cake.

@talexander - welcome back from the May Malt Madness. Some old Canadian favourites are returning to LCBO shelves - Royal Canadian popped up this week...just in time for the annual end of May celebration.

@paddockjudge Thanks! Yes, Spirit of Toronto was great, and spent a week in Scotland as well so much whisky has been consumed...yes, I saw the Royal Canadian Small Batch is back, fantastic. Also Century Reserve 21 Year Old, which I tasted at Spirit of Toronto, I really enjoyed.

Of the bottles I brought back from Scotland, one is a Canadian whisky, distilled by Potter Distillery in Kelowna BC, in 1985, and bottled 14 years later by Cadenhead's. It is 100% Indian corn, single cask, cask strength (I forget the ABV). I believe I tasted this in a masterclass that Davin de Kergommeaux did at Whisky Live a couple of years ago, on rare Canadian whiskies. You can only get this bottle in Scotland. Hopefully there will be a chance for you to taste it!

@talexander - spoken like a true fellow Canucklehead ... bringing back a bottle of canadian make from the land of malt...makes me proud to be a Canadian! Yes, I am definitely up for a taste of the rare Cadenhead's bottling, perhaps sooner than you might expect.
