I confess, Strathmill and I don’t get along very well. I have only tried two that I really liked and those had matured for 37 and 38 years respectively. So it does not come as a surprise that is has already been three years since I last tried this Speysider. But look, today we’ll open up a 25 Year Old from Signatory Vinrtage, bottled in their Cask Strength Collection, bottled in 1990.

Pleasant and very fruity nose on banana, baked apples, mango cubes and honey blossoms with a soft spicy – maybe rather herbal – side.

Good body. Creamy and sweet. The spices continue to whisper, giving the fruit a free podium. This makes for the palate to be the perfect continuation of the nose, which is a pleasant surprise. This is a lovely, fruity malt!

The finish is medium long, sweet and fruity.

Admittedly, this is a one dimensional whisky, but it is completely flawless. In my book, that makes for a good Strathmill. I don’t think I have said that before.
