Another review from a sample (2/5) from @Wierdo.
There is a story to this bottling it seems but the upshot being they've bottled some 10 year old Benrinnes under the name Stronachie as that is the malt that most closely resembled a bottle of the latter from 1904.
Review is neat.
Nose - Simple and easy but pleasant. Some soft lemon, barley sugars and a little mint chocolate (After Eights), vanilla and a tiny prickle of ginger and white pepper. A little floral as well, daffodils, come to mind?
Taste - Light and easy but there is a bit of body for the 43%. Some white, vanilla chocolate and a little more pepper on the tail.
Finish - Short to medium at a push, with white pepper again, a little more white chocolate and some slight wood bitterness.
So, quite a simple, sweet and easy sipper but considering this is around the £30 mark it's not that bad at all. I'd definitely prefer this over Glenfiddich 12 or Glenmorangie 10 and it's very much within that camp.
