Correction: Tomintoul 21 is #14 on the Highest Rated list. Four-frickin-teen! That's up there!

@rigmorole at this time there are 16 Whisky rated 91 points. I think the list just puts them in random order.
Also there are 4 reviews on Connosr, but I think the list is based on all scores for this Whisky, so the review ratings and all non review rating you can give in your cabinet section.
But to answer your real question; I haven't tasted a Tomintoul in my life. Sorry..

Yes, I repeatedly tried to find the number of ratings (without reviews) but could not. I used to be able to find them. Not sure why I can't with this one.
At any rate, Whiskybase rates Toul 21 at 82.52. Seems a bit low when compared with the relatively high rating here on Connosr. Everyone seems to agree that this scotch is "creamy" and "drinkable" and "delicious" but not terribly complex or impressive.

@rigmorole Looking at the page for Tomintoul 21, I see this: "About this score: This score was calculated from 4 reviews and 1 ratings by the community.". Does this mean that only one person rated his or her bottle in the cabinet, or is 'community ratings' something else?

Jim Murray rates it 94 in his bible. But also laments that it isn't bottled at 46 %. I haven't tasted it myself, but I'm a little vary of a whisky bottled at 40 %.

I noticed that Toul 21 is ranked very high on this website for faves. Despite this fact, there are only a few ratings that give it this honor (I think it's 28th-ish on the Best Of list).
What do you think? Does it deserve to be ranked so high even though everyone who rated it found something wrong with it?
Perhaps this points to a minor glitch in the rating system here on this site (one super high rating and a few high 80's bump it up to #28 on the "Best Of" list)?
Anybody tried The Toul 21? Your thoughts? The price is right for such an old scotch. I'm one of those old fashioned scotch drinkers that still loves a nice old scotch in my glass from time to time. I must admit that I"m a little intrigued. . . .
