Transporting whisky

I am moving across the country and have quite the whisky collection, I am purchasing a "pod" which you can pack your belongings in and have it driven to your destination. My question is, should I ship my whisky in this pod which is extremely hot or do I spend a lot of money to have my whisky shipped via fed ex? I don't want my whisky ruined any ideas or experiences would help......cheers!

@T4sho3 Personally what I'd do if at all possible would be to bring the gems of my whisky collection with me. Anything easily replaced can go into the pod. I've heard that lots of heat can easily damage whisky and lots of rough handling can damage whisky so I don't know how comfortable I'd be with Fed Ex doing the transporting, nor do I know that they can transport open bottles of whisky.

Is there anyway you can just bring the whisky with you, or at least your good stuff?

I know that when we move our special bottles are going to be insanely stupidly packed for safety for those whiskies, i.e. the Port Ellen, Snow Phoenix, Old Pulteney 21 yr old, etc.

The stuff easily replaced will be packed with care, but not total anal retentiveness

@SquidgyAsh I don't know of any way, I can't carry on the plane and I don't want my bags thrown around with whisky in them, I'm trying to transport johnnie walker king George x2 glenfiddich snow phoenix x2 ardbeg super nova 2010 x2 and a couple others.....quite expensive, I don't know what to do, maybe over night shipping with ultra packing?

@T4sho3 hmmm yeah I just looked at your collection, very nice!!

Maybe try this. If you haven't decanted the open bottles if possible do that so that the whisky inside isn't sloshing about, then a nice sturdy box, wrap the whisky in bubble wrap and packing peanuts if possible so that the bottles inside are protected as best as you can and overnight it if possible.

I know it'll be expensive, but with those bottles you'd want to take as much care as possible, so possibly only two bottles per box? Depending on the size of the boxes of course.

Don't forget to put tracking and insurance on the bottles though!!

If you ship, I would not spend money on insurance. If the package is damaged, it will be obvious that it is whisky and Fed Ex/UPS will not pay since you they do not allow individuals to ship liquor.
