Been enjoying 3 sherry bombs these past several months...
Balvenie 15 yr Single Barrel Sherry, Glendronach 15 yr Revival, and of course the Aberlour A'bunadh batch #49.
Last night I had a little comparison between the Balvenie, and the Glendronach with the Glendronach having a slight edge.

If I want a peated Sherry-Bomb, I will go for the Heredotus Fumosus for the fair price and for Laimrig if I have more money to spend. If I want spices, it's gone be Abunadh and if I want more chocolate and dates, Revival or the Macalan CS if I can find a bottle. Damn! I am so thirsty now!

I know where you can find a few Macallan CS but I doubt you'll pry one from his fingers while alive. I have an open bottle to share anytime you're in town.
Bladnoch has been one of my favourite sherry bombs. I have had some concerns with the 12 YO I recently opened, hoping air will settle it down, but the 10 and 11 YOs are definitely worth sipping.

@Nozinan, @Robert99, I had some Macallan Cask Strength last night with my son. We began at cask strength and gradually diluted with water until we reached 40%. This remains one of my favourites at virtually any a.b.v.

I've never added more than a few drops of water to Mac CS. How does the flavour evolve when you dilute it down?

GlenDronach ex-Oloroso single cask , hands down. A 1993 cask if you can find it.

I became a Glendroaddict ;-)) Glendronach 15 year Revival is an amazing ratio price/quality....A marvelous nose, at a time easy to drink and powerful in mouth, delicious and complex. The 21 year Paliament is also very good more "quiet strength" than the 15, but his price increase nonstop in recent months (i bought a bottle at 70 Euros in January, now it costs near 100 Euros). I recommend also Glendronach Cask Strength, batch 2 is a success, i could smell it for hours, and in mouth it's a bang of flavours.

I found the glendronach CS batch 2 a little young and rough. I have a bottle at home, but haven't opened it because of that. That said, I tried it when the bottle was freshly opened. I understand that, at least initially, air is a friend to this bottle.
Glenfarclas 105 10 year old seems to be in this category as well. Very rough, needs water, but some people gush over it so probably improves with time in the bottle after opening. Of course, that is history.....the 105 is now NAS.

Once it was unequivocally A'bunadh but that was then; now it's more like a three, maybe four way split and depending on batch could be A'bunadh, G/F105, Glengoyne Cask or most recently a gorgeous Glenfarclas15yo. @ 46%...All these can be sensational with, for me, the 105 the most consistent 'drop'.

I also like the Glendronach 15 a lot. Very rich, creamy and flavourful dark fruits with a hit of that muscovado that I have come to enjoy so much. That being said I wiould never turn down the Glendronach 12 which has many of the same attributes at a lower cost. Actually I am very unlikely to turn anything down that is offered, but really do like the two GD offerings I have had to date

About the Glendronach 15 yr Revival...Thought I read somewhere that there was a batch that had a bad sulfur smell/taste...Can anyone elaborate?

@Alexsweden How would you rate it to the 15 yr Revival?
A online shop in Minnesota has both for the same price...Decisions - decisions.

@Nozinan Thanks for the offer, I have an Arran CS Sherry Butt that could be nice to sample with a Sherry-Bomb fan! And do you think we can take your guy to the two of us?
@Paddockjudge Interesting. Except for becoming mellower, how does the palate evolves? I am interested, although I know I wouldn't be able to convince myself to do it.

@Nozinan , I actually don't know what batch I tried. Ended a tasting with it sometime ago and found it spectacular. But I might have been a bit tipsy..
@FMichael unfortunately I haven't tried the glendronach revival yet. It's at the very top of my wishlist!

Bang for your buck: Glenfarclas 105 and Aberlour A'Bunadh. Something exotic: Kavalan Solist Sherry Cask and Amrut Intermediate.
But all things considered, I am quite partial to the Glendronachs at the moment: 15 Year Old the Revival to the 18 Year Old Allardice and the 21 Year Old Parliament. :D

Glenfarclas 17. I'm not always into sherry but when I need it, this be the choice.

@WhiskyNotes For me it's chocolate and oranges coming to the forefront with prunes, raisins and treacle in the background.

At top of mind are GlenDronach Revival (15), GlenDronach Single Casks, Aberlour a'bunadh (any batch), Macallan 18.

I have tried several A'Bunadh batches and I'm about to take possession of a Gledronach single cask (as is friend of mine...), and although I really respect Bladnoch, I acknowledge that the best consistency in goodness has been with the Aberlour bruiser.
As for Macallan, aside from the CS I have not tried an inspiring full-flavoured expression.

this topic really has a two part answer, firstly my favourite sherry bomb to drink on a "any day " session would have to be Glenfarclas 15yo, a fantastic dram that has a lot to offer... but and it is a big butt.. "not intended to be funny" my favourite big sherry bomb whisky has to be the Auchentoshan 1979, 32 yo oloroso cask, it is so out of this world.. the notes are just stunning.
