With 9000+ "members" you'll always have some of that.
The 'thumbs down' seems to quash the posts pretty well for me.
As for deeper answers. I dunno. Money?

@MCM Hahaha ask a stupid question and you'll get a smart answer :D
Just seems a whole lot more lately, but you are indeed correct that you'll always have some of that. Just seemed like it was happening more often lately.

@SquidgyAsh, I can certainly appreciate how you feel. I'm sure many other members would agree with you. Personally, I couldn't care less if people want to try to buy and sell on Connosr. In fact, I think it could be a good idea to have a page on the site specifically for buying and selling bottles... Either way, I'm somewhat indifferent to it.

@SquidgyAsh I've also noticed a trend lately for buyers and sellers. Reminds me of what John Dillinger said when asked why he robbed banks. He said, It's where the money is. Perhaps people are doing this because it's where the whisky is. Have to admit, there is a large audience.

Meh. Not the way I operate, but it doesn't offend me either. If it allows a willing buyer and seller to connect...so be it. If it's scuzzy gougers flipping bottles...well...as said below, it will soon correct itself.

I'm not fazed by it at all.
That said, there may be some legal implications for the forum site owners/administrators if this activity is allowed.
I think in some countries the law is quite strict especially with the sale of alcohol or supply of it to minors - not sure how this applies to an entity that facilitates these activities.

When you think about it a sight like this would be a perfect target for reps for companies trying to sell whiskey. When I see stuff like that I tend to just ignore it.

Interesting that people on the one hand are saying they're interested in trying old/rare bottles of whisky, but on the other hand want to shut down people offering an opportunity to get access to them.
Obviously some people find this sort of thing stressful to read, so perhaps the best idea is to get in touch with the Connosr guys and see if there's any scope to create a separate category for those sorts of discussions. The reality is that if people have enough whisky at their disposal to want to be selling some of it then chances are they're interested in the topic and may have some valuable contributions to make to the community - by "burying" them, you sort of lose that opportunity.

I find many I would like to try are hard to find. I think a page or particular thread would be a good place to place ads for less seldom seen single malts.
I wonder if the increase is due to E-Pray banning the sale of said bottles?

Folks I could be wrong in this thought and if I am please shout at me and let me know, but I sort of always thought of Connosr as a place to share your love and passion for whisk(e)y. A place to talk about your whisky collections, friends, clubs, experiences, etc. A place where you could get together with other likeminded whisk(e)y lovers and learn more, by discussing whiskies of different regions, etc, set up sample swaps, and most of all make life long friends who are just as passionate about whisk(e)y as you are.
And for as long as I've been a member of Connosr that's been what this place has been all about, but lately I'm seeing more and more discussions of folks trying to sell their whisky to me, buy my whisky for them, etc. What's with this?! There are heaps of online forums dedicated JUST to the buying and selling of whiskies, both rare and common. I can think of at least 3 or 4 Facebook ones, not counting other forums.
So what in the world is causing these folks to post on Connosr, especially considering that their posts are immediately rated down to unseeable? Am I crazy for getting irritated with these folks?!
