@Wierdo - Wow! Sounds like Benromach needs some customer service training for their managers!

@TracerBullet and @OdysseusUnbound - I haven't had the Laphroaig 10 Sherry Cask, but would love to try it. However, I do agree with @OdysseusUnbound's comment about Lore being the equivalent to Oogie. I love them both!

@OdysseusUnbound Ah, Lore. I’d love to try it if the price wasn’t in the stratosphere.

@Nozinan That's a bold statement. Do I dare ask if you pronounce it GIF or GIF ?

@Wierdo - I remember you mentioning that exchange with G&M - not very inspiring is it?

Reminds me that, deep down, the whisky industry (or at least the bulk of it in the UK) still runs on the old fashioned, heirarchical and elitist structure of our society. I imagine they recoil in horror at the thought of their underlings daring to speak up to them grin stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye

That said, we all have bad days, so should maybe cut them some slack? But then I remember you were trying to help them, on their social media site which, I assume, wanted such feedback (or what's the point?). Na, no excuse. Were that myself, I doubt I'd buy another Benromach ever again.

I don't think I've brought a Benromach since. Although not so much because of that exchange but because the only Benromach I'm interested in is the cask strength release. I genuinely have a real aversion to buying any whisky at less than 46%. It just feels like I'm getting shortchanged in some way. Same reason I never buy 50cl bottles. I feel like I'm getting less.

But I have a pretty thick skin. Mainly because in my job you have to have one! So whilst it has put me off G&M products a bit. If I saw a bottle of theirs I really fancied I'd still buy it.

@Wierdo I'm with you on the 50cl bottles. That's why I keep passing up those Boutiquey Whisky Company bottlings. I can't help it, I'm half Scottish.

If you enjoy Brent Spiner as Data (or Data), and want some quality music to enjoy your whisk(e)y with, then I recommend Brent Spiner's album, "O' Yellow Eyes is Back".

But to make sure my post is related to the topic of this thread I better mention some recent purchases. I will upload photos a bit later.

I purchased two bottles of the 21yo Glencadam. Why? I enjoyed the 15yo so much, and a friend of mine recommended the 21yo, I thought I would splash out. Yes, I did buy before I tried, but I think it is worth the risk. I also purchased two bottles of Stravecchio Branca (Italian brandy). I'm unable to find it here where I am, but an online store had it and I wanted to get it. Why? Well, I had it when I was living in Beijing, and I remember enjoying it, so I wanted to reclaim a happy memory. The brandy hasn't arrived yet, but once it does I will upload a photo. Many of my recent purchases is preparing for the holiday season, but I guess I would be buying this stuff any time of the year anyway.

That is on my shopping list. Luckily a store not too far from where I live has it in stock, and I plan to buy a bottle or two.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will take your posts over Ralfy's video any day.

Ballechin 17yrs 55.5% full maturation in a refill fino sherry butt 629 bottles.

Whiskysponge edition 36b from Signatory warehouses.

Why? To be truthful had one too many and stumped up late one evening for it. Bit pricey for me tbh but every bottle I have had from Whiskysponge has been worth it and I imagine this will be no exception.

These arrived on Sunday.

What and why:

I actually picked up 6 bottles of the Sanitizer because they are $5 apiece for 750 cc of 80% sanitizer that leaves little residue. You can get spray bottles of the same volume for $10 but I have those now from a previous order.

I have liked their cask strength rye in the past, and it sells out quickly. This year they are selling them in 500 cc bottles instead of 200 cc, for the same per volume price.

And I am already on my second bottle of the lime bitters - they brighten up caffeine-free Diet Coke. Adding these the the cart gives me more variety, and more importantly…. Free Shipping!

Coopers Choice Glen Elgin. Cask strength of 56% ABV, 11 years old, matured in American oak with some time spent in a Sauternes cask. Bought because a couple of very credible connosr members (I’m looking at you @bwmccoy and you @Paddockjudge) highly recommended Glen Elgin. I’m a believer; lovely, lovely stuff.

I just picked up a Laphroaig 10 Year Sherry Oak. Reddit finally came in handy; before today, I didn’t know you could select the “Same Day Pickup” option from the LCBO app and order before the store opens. Someone on Reddit let me know and it worked out. Huzzah !!

@OdysseusUnbound I hope you enjoy it. I like it, but I think it reminds me enough of Uigeadail and so I will stick with the one bottle.

Went out for some milk and came back with these!

My local bottle shop has stocked up for Christmas and I held back but couldn’t resist the Arran 10. Not had one before and it seems to be talked up at the moment and not so easy to get currently. Must have been those flippin OSWAS giving it best single malt!

The bottle of Rafatia was sold to us by offering my wife a sample in the shop. He knows us well enough to know we are easy prey for a sweet thing like this. Lovely cherry and almond digestive. God knows how many things like this we have bought from him over the years haha..

It’s Christmas so got to have a few sweet things in the cupboard. Cheers.

@OdysseusUnbound The same day pick up option explains ~95% of the online conspiracy theories about LCBO employees snapping up bottles before stores open in order to buy/flip for profit. Occasionally, stock appears to be there (esp. singles) but the order doesn't get filled if someone has the it in hand at the store while the online order is being placed (happened to me twice).
